Happy Mothers Day

I know it has been awhile since we have updated our blog, as Matthew reminded me today when he called to say Happy Mothers Day. So we thought this would be a good time to get to blogging again.

A lot has happened since the last post. Our two grand babies are now 3years old. Chris has graduated high school and will be finished with his associates in December 2010. The gardens have grown to 3 beds getting ready to build a 4th and the butterfly garden is prettier than ever. A mother cardninal is building a nest in the same spot she built last year. I will post some pictures of the baby birds from last year.

The finished new bed

We discovered this swam of honey bees (center of bush)in the bushes by the house. We noticed them one afternoon and called a bee keeper the next morning. About 30 minutes before the bee keeper arrived the bees swarmed and were gone ! The bee keeper said this was just a "lay over" for them on the way back to the hive somewhere close.

Some Visitor's

Chris found these geese in our east field the other day. The 2 pairs have nested around the pond across the road and have been there the last few weeks. I guess they were taking a "field trip" this day.

Some pictures from Sandy's Texas Trip

Sandy Heads to Texas

Sandy took a trip to Texas to see Matt, Nichole and of coarse Savanna. She and Matt drove down together and apparently made a small detour for lunch,

Birthday Month

April is definitely birthday month around here, Chris, Rick, Henlie, Savanna, and others, all have birthdays in April. Whew ! If you haven't already seen them already, you need to go to Henlie's and Savanna's blogs to see the party picture. Had a party for Chris (the big 18!!) with one of the coolest cakes we have ever seen. This was created by Tanea Lamb that works with Sandy. Everything but the truck is edible ! It is AWESOME !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE WITH THE APRIL BIRTHDAY'S !!

Spring has Arrived !

Spring Has Arrived !

Spring is finally getting to Otter Tail Acres! Although not a lot is "popping up" yet, it has begun. We wanted to take some pics of what our beds and such look like now. Because it amazes even us how much it changes in just a few short weeks.

The Dogs

Sarge

Cassey

Maggie

Thought since we called this Otter Tail Acres we should put our "Otter Tails" on here. These are the 3 dogs. Mag and Sarge are brother and sister (same litter) and are part lab, part *** other***. Not real sure, but guesses have been pointer, grey hound and others. If you saw the movie Over the Hedge and saw the dog in that saying "PLAY, PLAY, PLAY...that's Sarge. He wants nothing more than to retrieve. Maggie is a little impish and would rather just follow you around but ,will run her legs off and has a nose that won't quit. Cassey is pure chocolate lab and the queen of the family. Those of you who have met them know why there is not a picture of all 3 together. Suffice it to say they are a handful !

Back from Texas

Just got back from Texas. We had a great time with Matthew, Nicole and baby Savanna. We got to have yet another Christmas with them and watch Savanna open her presents. Had a lot of fun seeing the base (Rick got to stand right next to the Chinook helicopters), and walking around the outlet mall in Round Rock in the beautiful TX weather.
As always, it's good to be home and looking forward to new years !

Here's some pic's from our trip!
